There's a NEW band in Rock City, St. Thomas and they're called Volume International. They just released two songs today on the Avalanche Radio Show around 4pm. 340 Muzik didn't get a chance to hear them release their songs but twitter & facebook is already going crazy about how good they sound. Stylee Band "6 Big Boys!" #NowOrNever (Promo)

340 Muzik had been waiting anxiously for Swanks to post this video when he announced it yesterday. Right here we have the "Big Six" riddim that will be on Stylee Band's upcoming album #NowOrNever.  Swanks announces that all of these riddims are recorded and songs in the making. Thus far into the year Stylee Band has been putting a lot of work into the soon-to-arrive St. Croix Festival 2011-2012.  After releasing 3 songs so far for the season (No Man, Woody, Stop It Nuh Man).  Let me tell you though, that by the sound of things so far, Stylee Band is the 340 Muzik front-runner for roadmarch favorite.  Think of this video as trailer for the madness that will ensue in STX Festival 2011-2012.  Better buy your tickets to STX now while they're relatively cheap.

However, let's not forget festival veterans PUMPA, who just released a single called "Cooping" and Dennis De Mennis also announced his single called "Journey" last week. Even though there have only been some releases so far we can't forget the two time Roadmarch champions Fusion Band, UMB Soldiers, Xpress Band, Jamal, and Stroka Band who could be withholding their hits for down the road. This shaping up to be a good year for St. Croix Festival and if you don't make it over there for festival then I don't know how you can call yourself a Virgin Islander.  Stay tuned to 340 Muzik as we continue update you on what's new

With the hit song "I Love PVI", Pantha Vibes has won their 3rd roadmarch in 4 years!! What! 3 outta 4 years??? Well my piece... gwan wit yoself PVI! PVI has just recently acquired the musically dangerous 

duo of Tafarai and Daddy Jones.  Now that super bassman Tafarai joining the PVI squad it seems as though as nothing will be able to stop this band as they look to continue making hits pon toppa hits.  The real question, however, is when will the Virgin Islands get to see the Return of PVI?

Remember when it was Daddy Jones & Friends not Daddy Jones ATC ft. PUMPA? Or... do you remember when Chantal wasn't in the group and the female singer was actually Nina Nyce formerly of Xtaushun Band. In case you didn't, here's a live of Daddy Jones ATC ft. PUMPA & Nina Nyce when they were first getting started. Here's one of possibly the first performances of Daddy Jones ATC when they were first en route to VI domination with chunes like Mockojumbie and Drop It. This is back when the Old Mill (St. Thomas, USVI) was jam central and DJATC was in their infancy. When you listen to this live of the band you fully appreciate how far all of the individuals have come and have become a staple in Virgin Islands music today. Enjoy 340 Muzik fans!!!

Since leaving Daddy Jones ATC back in March 2011, just before Virgin Islands Carnival, PUMPA has been very quiet on the music scene. Since then he has been establishing himself with his new band PUMPA & the Unit. We don''t know why PUMPA left Daddy Jones ATC and we would love to know, as with everybody else, but that is a different story for a different time. This past Monday, PUMPA joined DJ Avalanche on 105.3 aka 105 Jamz to release his new single "Cooping" (see above) off of his upcoming album. PUMPA was arguably the first Virgin ISlands soca/calypso artist to break from the ranks of being in a band to create his on path to success. Tell us what you think of PUMPA's work thus far.

P.S. Is it PUMPA, Pumpa, P.U.M.PA.? Exactly which one is the correct version of his name. If it's the acronym what does that stand for? Can someone let us know here at 340 Muzik please. Give Tanx!

If you hadn't heard of him before this summer then you had to of definitely heard of him by the end of summer 2011 with his breakout hit G.Y.M.S. Former UMB Soldiers lead singer, Dennis De Mennis, brings to the 340 community his next single on his upcoming album called "Journey." Dennis De Mennis announced the release of the track last week on twitter and put it out on Monday for the world to hear.  It's been roughly a year since Dennis De Mennis began his journey (pun intended) as a single artist and is already has one official album under his belt.

The song was produced by upcoming Music Producer and DJ Jeaucar (visit his website www.j-mtb.com), a young 20/21 year old who has blownup onto the Virgin Islands music scene since his riddim mixtape "Jokabox 2" (Download "Jokabox 2" HERE) won the Jammerz HP Riddim Competition last year.

Big Daddy Jeff blesses the @340Muzik community with his 2k11 Miami Carnival release of his single "Kork-Screw."  Chune sounds good and has potential to become a hit.  I also gotta give it to this dude for releasing a song during Miami carnival.  Being that there are a lot of Virgin Islanders who live in Florida and people from the VI travel to Miami just to go to their Carnival he'll hopefully get some exposure by taking advantage of this opportunity.  Hoepfully we'll see more and more VI artists and bands taking up this tactic of releasing a single for each US city carnival like Miami, NYC, or Atlanta.  See the link below to download the chune.  Tell us your thoughts as well.  You don't really see VI artists releasing chunes for US city carnivals.

If you didn't hear about the  SUMMER MAYHEM "BEST OF THE BEST 45 CLASH" then you definitely ain't from rock or even the Virgin Islands.  Here we finally got the much anticipated clash between After Dark vs King Animosity vs King Judah vs Red Lion Sounds. Unexpectedly, Afterdark kill ah sound bwoy but as a result of the clash and what was said afterwards in other circles, Red Lion Sound has now challenged DJ Avalanche to a clash.  And dis man ain't play ah tal bwoy wit di challenge!!!!  Avalanche has until Friday (today) to respond on his show.  Who wouldn't love to see a clash between Rock's two biggest sounds.  I know I would.  Tune into 105 Jamz on the radio to hear wha Avie has to say.
